Asandé - empowering women through micro businesses

Asandé (@asandejewellery) comes alongside women here in South Africa and further afield in the DRC through The Mother's Union.

They believe that empowering women through business is the most effective way to create a brighter future for women in need. Through each purchase they are able to fund three things for women here and in Congo.

Firstly, holistic care for each woman depending on her needs. They then provide skills training for her to be effective in the business of her choice and lastly seed funding to create their own micro-enterprise.

Each woman who is a part of the Asandé family is empowered to use business to rebuild their lives from the ground up.

Their hope is that through Asandé women can create a brighter future for themselves and their families.

Through this they are supporting two incredible women and brands:
Esther Macrame who is a local refugee who they work with to rebuild her life and Barbara’s Scrunchies – a woman from a local informal settlement who started a scrunchie brand during lockdown to support her family.

Asandé has since relocated and will be rebranding - so keep a look out for their launch.

"The last few years have been hard for our family. We have found ourselved on very hard times. But through Asandé we've been able to create our own micro-enterprise and slowly we're rebuilding our lives through business." - Esther
